NIV Kids’ Visual Study Bible

NIV Kids’ Visual Study Bible, Hardcover
ZONDERKIDZ / 2017 / HARDCOVER
The NIV Kids’ Visual Study Bible, for ages 8-12, brings the Bible to life in four-color illustrated splendor. This study Bible includes a spectacular full-color interior featuring over 700 illustrations, photos, infographics, and maps on every page that visually represent key Bible information. Each page also features key facts located near the relevant verse. Interesting facts; colorful, engaging maps; photographs; and illustrations make this a Bible they’ll want to explore.

This Bible uses the full NIV text, 2011 edition. Each page features a two-inch sidebar on the outside edge with study notes as well as over 700 full-color maps, pictures, and infographics. The text is in a four-inch column on the inside edge.

Pros:
The full color is eye-catching
The graphics are interesting and informative
The study notes are easy to understand and bring clarity to the text, examples: 1 -Numbers 23:19 The meaning of “God is not human, that he should lie”: This verse shows God’s character. He is completely truthful. He does not change his mind. Because God had blessed Israel, no human power such as Balaam’s could take away or change this blessing. And 2.  Luke 17:31 Why people would be on the roof: People often relaxed on their rooftops, which were flat.

Cons:
The font is small – could be a problem for some

This bible does not talk down to the age group it was designed for, I believe this Bible could easily benefit the tween or teen and even the adult beginner with Bible study. I concur with another reviewer, who suggested taking out the “Kids” in the title to appeal to a wider segment of readers. Comes in several different covers to appeal to a variety of interest.

I received a copy of the Bible from Handlebar Publishing for my review.
