“I will praise You, O Lord, with my whole heart; I will tell of all Your marvelous works. I will be glad and rejoice in You; I will sing praise to Your name, O Most High” Psalm 9:1–2.
Do you sometimes feel like the parade has passed you by? These days just keep on going so fast sometimes I am not sure if I get everything done, to make each day matter to me and those around me. The other night I went to bed early and throughout the night several songs kept playing over and over in my sleep:
I hear my Savior say thy strength indeed is small, find in me, your all in all, Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe, sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow. All my hope is in Jesus, thank God yesterday is gone, all my sins are forgiven I’ve been washed by the blood. You are my strength when I am weak, you are the treasure that I seek. You are my all in all. Seeking you as a precious jewel, Lord to give up I’d be a fool, when I fall down you pick me up, when I am dry you fill my cup. You are my all in all. I surrender all to thee my blessed Savior I surrender all.
Now I don’t know if this will mean anything to you, I am not sure what this means to me. I just follow the where the Spirit leads and there are probably more treasures in those phrases to be mined. Out of all the marvelous words that are special in these phrases the one that stood out to me at this time is “ALL”. According to merriam-webster.com: “ALL” the greatest possible quality, degree, respect, cost, energy, or property.
Me: what treasure do you want me to know?
Lord: Look to me, let my peace rule in your heart and be thankful. I will lift you high upon the rock and show you things you need to know. Surrender all of your focus, all of your worship, all of your gratitude on me. Love me will all your heart, all your soul, with all your strength, and with all your mind, and love others as yourself. I will come into your situation and give you peace and fill your heart with the joy of my presence and this will cause your enemies to fail.
My life began when death was arrested, that’s when Jesus’ death on the cross made me new and enabled me to surrender all to Him. Here are two promises that relate to the faithfulness of the Father to his children who surrender: The godly will flourish like palm trees and grow strong… For they are transplanted to the Lord’s own house. They flourish in the courts of our God and even in old age they will still produce fruit; they will remain fresh and vital. The glory of this latter temple shall be greater than the former and, in this place, I will give peace, says the Lord of Hosts.
We are now the temple of God for we have been grafted into the tree of life. We are encouraged to continue serving because our influence will increase as we keep moving forward.
NOTE: Many artists have recorded these tunes and the stories of how these were written are fascinating. Search the internet if you want to learn more on who/how/why they were written.
